The Carriageworks stands as a testament to Bristol’s industrial heritage, an iconic building that has seen the city evolve through the centuries. Originally built in the 19th century, it served as a hub for the production of horse-drawn carriages, an integral part of the city's booming trade and transportation. Over the years, the building shifted roles as the city grew, transforming into a vibrant space for art, culture, and, most recently, the thriving community we are so proud to be part of today.

Nestled in the heart of Stokes Croft, The Carriageworks is surrounded by one of Bristol’s most distinctive and creative neighborhoods. Stokes Croft has long been known for its rebellious spirit, embracing everything from street art to grassroots activism. This area has always been a melting pot of creativity, with its rich blend of independent businesses, urban art, and diverse communities. Stokes Croft is where new ideas take root and flourish, where voices are heard, and where people come together to challenge the status quo.

At The Farside, we feel incredibly lucky to call Stokes Croft home. The neighborhood’s vibrant energy and welcoming atmosphere align perfectly with the values that define us: authenticity, creativity, and community. Our dive bar is just a small piece of a much larger story – one that connects the past with the present and looks forward to the future. Being part of this community is something we don’t take lightly. We’re proud to serve the locals who’ve made this area what it is, and we strive to be a space where everyone can feel at home, whether they’re a longtime Bristolian or visiting for the first time.

The Carriageworks and Stokes Croft embody the heart and soul of Bristol – a city that has always been unapologetically itself. We’re honored to carry on this legacy, standing side by side with our neighbours and other local businesses that make this area so special. Together, we help shape the culture and community of Stokes Croft, and we’re excited for the future
